Figure 3: Cerro Rico amid Modern Day Potosi

Rich with flora and fauna, and forested to its peak prior to Spanish conquest, today Cerro Rico stands as a mere skeleton of itself. The wrecked ecosystem of Cerro Rico and its surrounding environment, commodified in the name of wealth accumulation, serves as a constant reminder to the people of Potosi of the consequences of the capitalistic system birthed in their town only a few short centuries ago.
